The Delusion and Disillusion of the NAACP

Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.”

— Proverbs 17:28 (NIV)

This week began with a bombshell statement from the NAACP, invoking a travel advisory for Blacks to the state of Florida. The bomb backfired, however. There have been some who have gone as far as making the insidious claim that Florida is a state of terrorism against Blacks and LGBTQIA+ alphabet soup people. I would recommend to those making such delusional statements to heed the wise counsel of King Solomon in the aforementioned quote. There are absurd statements, and then there are statements that reflect a “stuck on stupid” level of disillusion, and this was one.

I lived in Florida upon retirement from the US Army for ten years, 2004-2014. I was honored to have been elected as a member of Congress from the State of Florida, the second Black Republican. The first was a very distinguished gentleman named Josiah T. Walls, 1873-1876. I would offer that there are probably not too many members of the Florida NAACP who know that, or could, by chance, name the first Black members of the US House of Representatives and Senate. Black history is not just about the ideological agenda of the 1619 Project and the incessant rhetoric of systemic racism. Truth be told, the purveyors of such policies in America have been, are, and probably will continue to be the Democrat Party.

But how deaf, blind, and dumb — emphasis on the last — does one have to be to make such a boneheaded statement considering what is happening in the American Black community today?

First, let’s take a walk down memory lane.

The NAACP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. But how many of you knew that the NAACP was founded by white progressives (code name for communists) Mary White Ovington, Oswald Garrison Villard, William English Walding, and Dr. Henry Moskowitz? Sure, we are taught that WEB DuBois was a founder, but he was made the face of the organization. DuBois was part of the Black intelligentsia elite, a socialist himself, who in later years would dine with Mao Tse Tung, renounce his American citizenship and fully declare his communist beliefs. The NAACP was actually established as a counter to the work and principles of my philosophical mentor, Booker T. Washington. Washington’s work in establishing Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute was grounded in the principles of education, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. Washington was instrumental in the formation of the Negro Business League, which spawned the economic success of the Black community, even in the face of Democrat Jim Crow and segregation policies.

Here we are today, and not much is spoken about Booker T. Washington. The DEI programs and African-American AP history classes seem to have forgotten him, intentionally. It appears that if one advocates for the truth to be correctly taught about Black history then you are labeled a white supremacist, or in my case, “the Black face of white supremacy.”

Therefore, the NAACP issues their statement in the face of the truth that really affects the Black community. Why not address the issue of failing education systems in the Black community? All one has to do is look at any inner city school district with a majority of Black students and what you find is appalling. Kids are falling way below expected reading and math grade levels. Baltimore is a prime example. Perhaps the NAACP leadership, one of whom is a Tampa Florida resident, should be releasing statements against Randi Weingarten and the teachers’ unions who reject educational freedom and parental choice in education. Maybe the NAACP should release a statement against North Carolina where the Governor, a Democrat, has called a state of emergency because the legislature, Republican, passed educational choice legislation.

Maybe the NAACP should issue a statement on the destruction of the traditional nuclear two-parent family in the Black community. That is probably not a realistic expectation since Black Lives Matter does not support the traditional nuclear family. Supposedly that is also a symbol of white supremacy. Doggone glad I had awesome parents growing up. Or maybe the NAACP should issue a travel advisory for Blacks to states where murdering unborn black babies by dismemberment has become the number one killer of Blacks . . . over 20 million since 1973 and the Roe v. Wade court decision. That’s a genocide. Or maybe the NAACP should issue a travel advisory on Democrat-run urban centers, many with Black mayors, where the death toll of Blacks surpasses what we have seen in recent combat zones. Since 2020 there have been over 330 little Black and brown children who have been killed by stray bullets of gang violence. Children! In his first weekend as Mayor of Chicago, noted and admitted progressive socialist Brandon Johnson, saw some 23 shootings in the Windy City, not by whites, but, once again, by Black-on-Black violence.

What the NAACP is evidencing is that they care little about the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness (property) for “colored people.” They were founded as, and continue to be, a leftist ideological and agenda-driven organization, aligned with a political party that has consistently embraced the ideas of physical enslavement and economic enslavement when it comes to Blacks in America. The NAACP does not advance the idea of Blacks being able to “Live Free.” As Joe Biden quipped, “they gonna put y’all back in chains.” The ones who did that are the political party for whom the NAACP has become the new overseers on the 21st century economic plantation.

In June, I am heading to Daytona Beach Florida. I can’t wait. I have no desire to travel to Chicago, Detroit, NYC, Philadelphia. Washington DC, Atlanta, Memphis, Los Angeles, or any of the other leftist run cities plagued by Black-on Black crime and violence. I am enacting my own self designated travel advisory.

The old folks down south used to paraphrase the verse from Solomon by saying, “even a fool is wise to keep their mouth shut, and not open it and confirm their stupidity.” Those were the folks who upheld the highest of principles and values in the Black community . . . now we have charlatans and race hustlers.

Steadfast and Loyal.
