Greetings folks, I really like saying that and nope, I do not say, Happy 4th of July. The 4th of July is just a date on the calendar. Every country has a 4th of July; we, Americans, have an Independence Day. And if we are to recognize what is important to preserve, protect, and defend, we must comprehend the basis on which our Nation was established. After all, Thomas Paine stated, “It is the duty of every true Patriot to defend his Country from its government.”
It is imperative to understand that America is not just some geographical space. It is an ideal, the manifestation of John Locke’s Natural Rights Theory. That was written in 1689 as part of Locke, the father of classical liberalism, not this post-modern leftist definition of liberalism, Second Treatise of Government. It was that document, that ideal, that Thomas Jefferson, the author of our Declaration of Independence, studied. Locke’s theory ran in contrast to the prevailing belief of the day in Divine Rights Theory, meaning royalty were the givers and takers of our individual rights. Locke advanced that our individual rights, naturally, emanate from the Creator, the Judeo-Christian faith heritage of God. And in our Declaration of Independence, Jefferson codified Natural Rights Theory when he referred to the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God”. There is no other Nation in the world that has been established upon the principle that the individual is sovereign because of their inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (Locke termed in property) as endowed to them by a sovereign, supreme Creator.
And so it goes, that we say Happy Independence Day in America, but the progressive socialist leftists would prefer us to say, “happy dependence day.”
Two hundred and fifty years ago, on April 19, 1775, 77 men took to the field in Massachusetts, and when ordered to lay down their arms, they refused. They knew that as armed individuals, they could protect their liberty. They could be citizens, not subjects. Today, that very same Massachusetts that birthed the Sons of Liberty has some of the most stringent gun control laws in our Country. Basically, leftists have done the bidding of the British, just 250 years later. They have sought to turn citizens into subjects and undermine their right to protect their lives, liberties, and property.
The leftist design, religion, of gender dysphoria and mutilating the bodies of our children is part of their delusional and demonic pursuit to undermine the omnipotence of the Creator. After all, if God could not get male and female correct, then how could the very same God be competent enough to bestow unalienable rights upon citizens? Ergo, it is man, government, that is more capable, able, to prescribe your rights, liberties, and so-called freedoms. Do not believe me, just heed the rhetoric of one Zohran Mamdani…one who wants to assume the means of production and control your food, by way of government grocery stores.
I suppose the Scottish political philosopher, Alexander Fraser Tytler, had it right: “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over lousy fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average of the world’s great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to Complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage.”
I am always shocked, well, perhaps not, when I ask a group how many have read the entire Declaration of Independence? It is a document that lists grievances against a despotic tyrant whose purpose was to rule and not govern. When you review these grievances, you will find that many could easily apply to those progressives, socialists, Marxists, who prefer centralized government control, yet go about foolishly ranting about “No Kings.”
So, I am attempting to make this easy on you. I have linked here the reading of our Declaration of Independence by Max McLean, it is just over 10 minutes. If you tell me that you do not have ten minutes to understand why we say Happy Independence Day, well, refer back to Tytler’s cycle of democracy and start reading at complacency.
It is a Republic if you can keep it…and we will continue to say Happy Independence Day, if you know why we are free and independent. Happy 249th Independence Day to my Country, these United States of America…”This We’ll Defend.”
Steadfast and Loyal.
