The Role of Federal Government

Like some of you, I just finished watching the one and only Vice Presidential debate. I was impressed that it was quite cordial and not just a shouting match. However, there was one thing that was clearly evident to me: the moderators were biased in their questioning. Just as we saw with the ABC debate, there was a smugness about the two moderators. After the Trump-Harris presidential debate, I wrote a piece that brought attention to the lack of discussion on constitutional governance and the rule of law. This time it was no different; actually a tad worse.

The CBS moderators sought a line of questioning that they felt would be favorable to leftists. The line of questioning took the form of more and increased government expansion by way of federal programs. In essence, the real question from the vice presidential debate was, what is the role of the federal government? This debate was mostly about government social welfare programs.

What was lacking was an in-depth discussion on our porous border, the current foreign policy debacles, national security, and an objective comparison between the former Trump administration and the current Harris administration.

It was unconscionable to me that there was no real discussion on the Middle East and how would the respective administrations confront this challenge. There was no discussion about the global conflagrations that have arisen in the Harris administration. We have a massive strike of shipping yard dock workers. There is a major natural disaster going on across Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. But none of this received the attention that government mandated paid family leave drew.

There are meaningful crises domestically and globally; this should have been the focus. We are damn tired of hearing about January 6th, especially when Tim Walz fiddled while Minneapolis burned to the ground…and Kamala Harris aided in raising funds to get those arsonists released. I mean the continued inquisition about pre-existing conditions; well, we had a pre-existing condition of a secured border, peace in the Middle East, and a thriving economy.

It was clear that the CBS debate moderators did not want to discuss or spend any time on the preeminent issues facing our Nation. And as Senator Vance asserted, this is not about what Harris will do on day one. The question should have been repeatedly, why has she not done so in three and a half years?

Here is what needs to happen going forward: no more leftist network debates. As I wrote previously, the left embraces three branches of rule, one of those branches is the media. It is time that each side just selected a moderator, secured a venue, no audience, and conducted a real and true debate. Can you imagine someone like Mark Levin being a presidential debate moderator? And let the left pick, uh, Rachel Maddow? These debates are not objective, and that has been the lesson learned in these last two between Trump/Vance and Harris/Walz.

And even with all the defined aid, Walz still failed miserably, as Senator Vance was well prepared and rehearsed. The objective for each of them this evening was to show that they  are a strong wingman. Vance did…Walz went down in flames. Who wants a Vice President who admits that he gets caught up and is a knucklehead? I mean, Walz’s response to the abject lie that he was in Tiananmen Square was hilarious. “I came from a midwestern family.” What does that have to do with the question posed?

How absurd that the moderators and Walz tried to project on the issue of prosecuting political opposition. When was the last time you have ever heard of Republicans unleashing the power of the government against citizens and political opposition? And we all know that it was the Biden-HARRIS administration that coerced social media companies to censor Americans.

Who won this evening? The comprehension of the role and responsibility of the federal government did not. But it was quite obvious that Tim Walz didn’t either, not even close.

Steadfast and Loyal.
