The old folks down South had immense wisdom, regardless of incessant educational degrees and “book learning.” They instilled in many of us simple maxims that still resonate today. One of those pearls of wisdom came from my Dad, the ol’ Army World War II Veteran, Corporal “Buck” West. My Dad once told me, “Boy, an empty wagon makes a lot of noise.” Now, of course, as a young Jedi, I struggled to understand the message he was conveying, just like Grasshopper in Kung Fu, dating myself, trying to grasp the pebble from his Sensei. But one day, Dad explained, and it all made such simple sense.

The wagon refers to one’s brain, and when it is empty, meaning lacking knowledge, the mouth makes a lot of noise to compensate for the apparent incompetence. During my years serving in the Army, I developed an offshoot of Dad’s maxim, “Cool Heads always prevail.” No one follows a loud, nervous Nellie into battle. And truthfully, so-called leaders who made it a habit to yell and scream for no reason, the exception being Drill Sergeants, were masking their lack of leadership skill, talent, and competence.

And so today, when I see these Marxist leftists screaming and shouting insidious rants, it confirms my Dad’s maxim. Marxists are just empty wagons making a whole lot of noise. Consider the fools in Washington, DC, who are shouting at National Guard troops, referring to them as Nazis and denigrating them with abhorrent invectives. When one can only use profanity, it evidences a lack of command over the English language. When a member of our U.S. House of Representatives calls Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers terrorists, it is just a bunch of noise. How do these people explain the drastic reduction of crime in Washington, DC, in just nine days? How do these leftists explain their insidious rantings about taking no action against criminal illegal immigrants?

I mean, how do you explain to the Family of three innocent Americans who were killed by an illegal immigrant commercial truck driver who, like them, had no command of the English language?

Marxists, leftists, are loud because they cannot intelligently defend their ideological agenda and positions. So, as a default, they go screaming, screeching, and making the most mind-numbing noises, kinda like fingernails scratching across a blackboard. Remember Jaws? It is all a very weak attempt to intimidate, coerce, but mostly hide the fact that they are representative of their party mascot, a Jackass, who tend to make distressing noises as well.

Leftists believe that their local amplifications will force those in opposition into silence; it should have the opposite result. When Marxists scream, and they all do, we should be emboldened. We, as constitutional conservatives, should be encouraged knowing that we are winning the debate of ideals, because they do not want a debate. I will never forget, and many do not allow me to forget, the exchange I had with an obtuse, belligerent leftist female student at Northwestern University back in 2016. I had just finished giving a talk on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iranian Nuclear Deal. The talk was sponsored by the Young America’s Foundation (YAF), and at the conclusion of my remarks came the question-and-answer portion. This female student made a beeline to the microphone and proceeded to ask me, “Do you identify as Black?” Hmm, an empty wagon making a lot of noise.

Then there was the black female student at the University of Buffalo who took to the microphone after I made remarks about America not being a racist nation. She began screaming about how I was such an embarrassment and that I was causing her emotional distress. Hmm, I was born in a Blacks only hospital in 1961, rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, commanded a Battalion in combat, became a US Congressman and represented current President Donald Trump’s Florida residence known as Mar a Lago, and have served as the Chairman of the largest State Republican Party in the Country, the Republican Party of Texas. I have a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s degrees, and some college student refers to me as distressing? Yep, another empty wagon.

I believe it is time we stop cowering away from the debate with leftists. I think we should be on offense and challenge them, and if they begin to scream, shout, and fall upon the floor frothing at the mouth, just remain calm as they make their inane noises. It was Sir Winston Churchill who aptly described socialism as a “creed of ignorance.” I mean, let’s get real, Marxism is the pure embodiment of insanity, they keep trying the same thing, and somehow expect different results, because leftists are seriously stuck on stupid, and like Drill Sergeants quip, “ya can’t fix stupid”. What we can do is challenge it and prevent it, as best as possible, from spreading. Some 2.1M over the past four years have individually corrected their stupidity and abandoned their Democrat/Marxist party registration. Maybe, just maybe, folks are realizing that government control of the economic means of production, the eradication of private property rights, the decimation of our nation’s sovereignty, defending criminal illegal immigrants, and government-run grocery stores are dumb ideas emanating from empty wagons.

So, the next time some delusional, deranged Marxist starts screaming and yelling at you, stay calm, smile, and realize that you can’t reason with an empty wagon.
