The Real Threat to Democracy

There is a lot of chatter coming from the progressive socialist left about threats to democracy. As a matter of fact, it appears that Joe Biden will be making a speech about the soul of America this Thursday evening from Independence Hall in Philadelphia, how odd. First and foremost, it is imperative to understand that America is not a democracy, it is a Constitutional Republic. As a matter of fact, it was Benjamin Franklin who, when engaged by Philadelphia socialist Mrs. Powell on September 17th, 1787 — Constitution Day — gave his powerful response to her inquiry. Mrs. Powell asked the astute Franklin, “Well Doctor, what is it that we have, a monarchy or a republic?” Franklin replied, “It is a Republic, if you can keep it.
The two foundations of our Constitutional Republic are the rule of law, the constitution itself, and the regard for individual rights, freedoms, and liberties. Remember, our Constitution was not ratified, meaning accepted, until it possessed what many states had, an individual Bill of Rights . . . our first ten amendments.
America has a system of representative democracy as a means to govern our constitutional republic. But when one objectively assesses the current state of our Republic, the biggest threat to our Democracy is the fella giving the speech this Thursday evening.
Joe Biden has no constitutional authority to relieve individuals of a private contractual debt obligation, and certainly not with taxpayer funding. The issue of appropriating taxpayer resources is an enumerated power of the legislative branch, not the executive. When it comes to protecting the sovereignty of this Republic, it is a duty and responsibility of the federal government, Article IV, Section 4 of the constitution . . . the Guarantee Clause. Joe Biden has refused his constitutional duty and in turn has subjected our Republic to an epic tragedy of drug, human, and sex trafficking that threatens the lives of countless Americans.
We have witnessed immense violations of first amendment rights of Americans, well, actually those who do not agree with the progressive socialist left. The levels of censorship in our Republic are very disconcerting, and the rise of the cancel culture is quite troubling. And to have Joe Biden take to a podium and speak about the soul of our Nation, after referring to tens of millions of its citizens as “semi-fascists,” that is not very encouraging. And please, can anyone explain to me how the funding of 87,000 new IRS agents is a positive for our Republic?
Scottish political philosopher Alexander Fraser Tytler articulated the real and true threat to a democracy back in the 18th century. He asserted:
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”
Promising to relieve student loan debt, paying individuals to not work, and generally pushing more people into a welfare dependency by redistribution of wealth is indeed the greatest threat to a democracy.
Steadfast and Loyal.
